Tennyson Gallery is excited to present:

ABSTRACT! THE SHOW: A mélange of Modern Abstract artists will showcase their art on the 1st Friday of September, the 2nd, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and continue throughout October. We are located at 4369 Stuart Street (just east of 44th & Tennyson), Denver, CO. 80212. Contact us at 303.433.3274.

“Abstract Expressionism” was coined in the 1920’s to describe the art of Vasily Kandinsky, but has since come to comprise many artists and latitudes. Originally classifying painting, abstract expressionism has matured to include photography and sculpture as well as other artistic formats. Abstract Expressionism established itself as a permanent art form when the traveling abstract expressionist exhibition, “The New American Painting,” was displayed at MOMA in the states in 1958-59 and toured 8 European countries. Abstraction and Minimalism have been born from these very foundations.

“The need is for felt experience – intense, immediate, direct, subtle, unified, warm, vivid, rhythmic.Robert Motherwell, Artist, 1951.

This art values the inner emotions--those of turmoil and joy; the polarities of human emotion. Through the articulation of gesture, color, form, and texture, abstract expressionism has expressive and symbolic potentials. The proficient use of such elements demonstrates the artist’s commitment to the “act of creation in the face of continual choice:” [1] that life presents.

The artists of Abstract! The Show will include:

Clarissa Blum-Engelke, Birgit Whitelaw, Gary Witt, Ed Paciaroni, Brian Rosino, Heather Billings, Robert Hamilton-Pennell, Michael Wais, Tate Hamilton and a mystery artist.

Tennyson Gallery is proud to present artists of the abstract, masters of the invisible, and travelers in worlds beyond ordinary vision. Come travel with them!

At this time, we will also continue to display this month’s current exhibit: the passionate photography of the Brad Braverman Estate. Select pieces of his exhibit are on our website, as well as a brief biography.

Thank you very much and we hope to see you there!
