MICHAEL O'LOUGHLIN

“The only thing I’ve ever known for sure is that I was to be a painter. God said I was going to be a painter and nothing else. I’ve gotten nothing else right in my life, but I am a painter.” – Michael O’Loughlin

A rare visual story teller and his art
introduced to Denver for the first time
at a four-hour private art event!

Join Tennyson Gallery Saturday, May 10, 4 pm – 8 pm, for a complete viewing of original and limited reproductions from Michael O’Loughlin.

“I don’t draw pictures of animals or things or people. I use the canvas to tell a story,” declares Michael O’Loughlin, reclusive artist and visual storyteller. “Some paintings take years to finish; some stories take that long to tell.”

His photo-realistic painting style is inspired by Albert Bierstadt, though Russ Biaggne, collector and lover of O’Loughlin’s art, finds his work breathtaking and reminiscent of Rembrandt.

Says Biaggne:
"Michael paints from his heart. As a realist and historian, Michael has never compromised his story on canvas with commercialism, and each subject matter reflects life and evokes the deepest of raw emotions and absolute truth.  This truth can be extremely emotional, personal, honest and sometimes painful. His pursuit of technical excellence often causes him to spend at least half his time researching a piece before he ever wets a brush!"
Detailed renderings of Western landscapes are seen panoramically, and the viewer is witness to a story. It may be a fully engaged battlefield or a captivating story of a Native American boy facing his demons. Western art is only part of his repertoire. Seascapes, childhood memories . . . not willing to be pigeon-holed into one thing, he became a master at painting what comes through him freely.

Well collected by individuals and museums, O’Loughlin’s works have been featured as far away as France and as close to home as the Wheeler Museum in Idaho. Tennyson Gallery is delighted to present Michael O’Loughlin to Denver for an exclusive art opening. Gallery co-director Judith travelled to Idaho to meet Michael. She immediately knew that Denver needed to discover him. His painting is detailed and vibrant, and they giclee beautifully for the art lover on a budget.  His originals are beyond compare, so Tennyson Gallery is bringing Michael’s originals to Denver as well as signed, limited edition giclees. All are for purchase.
